The SMSTS Site Management 2 Day Refresher training is a crucial course for site managers to update their health and safety knowledge. It is designed for safety-critical industries and is a recognised award from CITB, valid for 5 years. This course allows managers to refresh their skills and effectively manage potential hazards in the workplace.
Who Should Attend?
Construction site managers and senior site supervisors or anyone who currently holds a valid and in date Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS certificate. The certificate has to be renewed every five years by attending this SMSTS Refresher course. Please note that expired certs and grace periods for expired certificate renewals are no longer able to join this course.
Joining Instructions
Candidates need to provide their valid SMSTS certificates - if they have expired candidates will need to attend the full 5 day course. ** Important Information - Coronavirus COVID-19** Candidates must adhere to the social distancing rules and Government guidelines while attending our training centre. Due to the current guidelines our canteen will be closed; we ask candidates to provide their own lunches and refreshments. All delegates & visitors to our venues must wash their hands thoroughly and regularly. Anyone who has been advised to self-isolate or is showing symptoms should contact us to rearrange their course and must not attend any of our venues. **Information Required** Photographic ID Date of Birth NI Number CITB Levy Number (if applicable) ** Please note that candidates need to arrive for 07:45 for course start at 08:00 prompt, any candidates arriving any later that 08:15 may be turned away**
Course Agenda
Health and safety law, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act and Construction Design and Management Regulations. Policies, risk assessments, and method statements. Induction, training, communication, and leadership for effective worker engagement. Inspection, audit, and statutory forms, notices, and registers. Accident prevention, control, reporting, and investigation.
Management of health and welfare facilities, including stress and mental health at work, drugs and alcohol, and control of substances hazardous to health. Specific topics such as lead, asbestos, dust and fumes, noise, vibration, and manual handling.
Site organisation, including fire prevention and control, dangerous substances, electrical safety, temporary works, and plant and work equipment. Mobile plant and vehicles, lifting operations and equipment, and safety for mobile workforce and drivers.
Work at Height Regulations, covering safe working at height, common access equipment, scaffolding, fall arrest and suspension equipment, excavations, underground and overhead services, and confined spaces. Course duration 2 days..

Welcome to The Training Centre in Sheffield! To reach us, take the M1 and exit towards Wakefield. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the M1 slip road. Merge onto the M1 and at junction 34, take the A6109 exit towards Sheffield. Continue on Meadowhall Rd, then take the 1st exit onto Brightside Ln. Turn left onto Sutherland St, then right onto Leveson St. Finally, turn left onto Effingham Rd, and youll find us on the left at S4 7YW. Accreditation
Successful candidates of the SMSTS Site Management 2 Day Refresher training course will receive a ConstructionSkills Site Safety Plus certificate. This certificate is highly recognized in the construction industry and is a requirement for many job positions.
The SMSTS certificate is valid for five years, after which it must be renewed by attending the SMSTS Refresher course. The course includes a compulsory examination paper consisting of 25 questions selected by the CITB. A pass is achieved by scoring over 80 on the exam.
