Joining Instructions
Please forward a copy of this information to all of your delegates Course Pre-requisites Delegates must be at least 18 years of age. Course Assembly Registration commences at website and closes at website This will enable the course to start promptly at website Anyone arriving after website may be unable to attend the course, this is at the instructors discretion. Car parking facilities are available at the front and right of the building. Equipment & Clothing Delegates must provide their own comfortable clothing, hard hat and suitable footwear (website coveralls, steel toe cap boots and hi-visibility vest), with provision made for inclement weather conditions, website fleeces, waterproofs, wind proofs, gloves etc. Sibbald Ltd will provide all Personal Fall Protection and rescue Equipment required throughout the course duration. If you would prefer to use Personal Fall Protection or rescue equipment supplied by either yourself or your employer, this will only be permitted providing the equipment is fit for purpose. In this instance you should provide the training administration team with a copy of the declaration of conformities and inspection records prior to the course taking place. This needs to be completed by a competent person within the last six months. The equipment will also be inspected by the course instructor prior to its use during the training course. Copies of the certification and inspection will be retained with the candidates training pack. Certification Certification is normally valid for a 3 year period unless otherwise stated. Medical Safe and efficient working at height often requires a degree of physical fitness from those concerned. Individuals undertaking work at height should be physically fit and free from any disabilities that may prevent them from working safely at height. Contradictions include: • Heart disease/Chest pain • High blood pressure • Epilepsy, fits, blackouts • Fear of Heights/Vertigo • Giddiness/Difficulty with balance • Impaired limb function • Uncorrected visual impairment • Alcohol or Drug dependence • Psychiatric Illness • Obesity It is the responsibility of trainees or their employer to ensure persons are physically and medically fit to attend training. Prior to attending any practical training course delegates are required to review the above list of medical conditions, which could preclude them from work at height training. This list is not exhaustive, and you should make us aware of any condition you that may affect your ability to safely work at height. If delegates have any medical conditions that may affect the practical training that they wish to undertake, they must seek medical advice in advance and obtain a medical certificate. Delegates are required to complete a medical declaration before the commencement of all practical courses. Sibbald Ltd reserve the right to exclude any trainee from the training at any stage if they have concerns regarding the trainee’s health and/or fitness (this includes the use of drugs and alcohol). Refreshments Refreshments are provided throughout the day. Along with a light lunch Assessment of courses It should be noted that all courses provided by Sibbald Ltd contain elements of written and practical assessment. If a candidate fails an assessed element the trainer will provided further explanation/ demonstration to aid the candidate understanding of the topic or technique. The candidate will then be given a second opportunity to complete the assessed element. If a candidate is unable to complete an assessed element they will be deemed unable to complete the course. In the case of a candidate failing an assessment the trainee and employer will be informed of the assessment outcome. Appeals against an assessment outcome should be made by e-mail. Delivery of training All our courses are delivered in English candidates attending training courses should be able to read, write and speak English. If this is not the case additional arrangements for translation will have to be made at the expense of the person/organisation booking the course. Candidates with any special learning difficulties should contact the training department prior to training delivery so arrangements can be made to help them on the course.

If youre travelling on the M8 from the East, exit at Junction 4 and take the third exit at the roundabout onto the A801. After a short drive, youll find the centre on your left. Coming from the West Exit at Junction 5, turn left at the T-junction, and after a mile, the centre will be on your right. For those on the M9, exit at Junction 4 and follow the A801.
