Course Information
IPAF Operator training is a safety course offered by the International Powered Access Federation. It covers the use of mobile powered access platforms such as scissor lifts and boom lifts. Trainees receive a PAL Powered Access Licence upon completion.
Who Should Attend?
IPAF Operator training is designed for individuals working in industries where operating aerial work platforms is a regular task. This includes construction, maintenance, and installation professionals as well as those in facilities management roles. This training ensures safety and knowledge in working at heights.
Joining Instructions
Failure to arrive before the specified course start time may result in delegates being refused entry, if you are going to be late on the day please call us as soon as possible on 0330 175 7185. Please note we are unable to refund the cost of a course which is missed due to absence or lateness. Please ensure that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the course to avoid disappointment. Since the safe use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) requires that you consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturers instruction manual, literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for any MEWP user. As the assembly and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights/vertigo, giddiness/difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. Joining Instructions Important Note: It is imperative that delegates have the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with them on the day of training. Non-compliance would mean you would be unable to complete your practical training on the day and would not be able to complete your course. Delegates are required to bring: Clothing that is comfortable and suitable to undertake practical activities, protective footwear, hi-vis vest / jacket and a hard hat. A full body harness and a fully adjustable restraint lanyard are also required, however, the trainer can supply these for use on the course if required.
Course Agenda
The course then moves onto discussing the relevant legislation and regulations related to MEWPs, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. This section also covers the importance of risk assessments and the role of the operator in maintaining a safe working environment.
The next part of the agenda focuses on the safe use of MEWPs in different scenarios, such as working on uneven ground or near overhead obstructions. Learners will also be taught how to properly position and maneuver the equipment to ensure maximum safety and efficiency.
The course concludes with a review of best practices for the safe transportation, storage, and maintenance of MEWPs. Participants will also receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course, which is valid for five years.
Overall, the IPAF Operator training course provides a comprehensive and practical approach to learning how to safely and effectively operate MEWPs, equipping learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their role as a certified operator..
