The IPAF operator dual category training course is to provide anyone who supervises, manages or uses powered access with an understanding of the need for safe operational procedures, the prevention of accidents, emergency descent operations and the employees and employers responsibilities, when using cherry pickers, scissor lifts, aerial work platforms and trailer mounted booms. Who Should Attend?

Personnel who will be responsible for the safe use of powered access platforms, scissor lifts, booms and/or cherry pickers should attend the IPAF dual training course. Category 3a (Scissor Lifts only) and 3b (Boom or Cherry picker lifts only) are recommended for single use categories.

Course Agenda

The IPAF boom and scissor lift training course consists of both theory and practical instruction including: Theoretical aspects of the operation of an access work platform Understanding and identification of operational hazards Procedure, benefits and requirements of pre-operational inspection Benefits and procedures of full function testing Identification and procedures of specific hazards on site Understanding the limitations of machine application Applying and understanding the correct starting procedure Identifying the proximity of all hazards including overhead Travelling with the machine with the platform in the correct position Positioning the machine correctly in relation to the task Levelling the machine and deploying the stabilisers Stowing the equipment and tools safely on the platform Safety harness use Correctly lowering and raising the platform .

Welcome to the Broxburn Training Centre! Our venue is conveniently located in the town of Broxburn, with a postcode of EH525AS. We offer ample parking for our attendees, making it easy for you to get to our centre. At the Training Centre, we want to make sure you are comfortable and well taken care of during your training. Thats why we provide free refreshments for all attendees. And for those who need to stay connected, we offer free WIFI access as well. Getting to our centre is easy. If youre coming from A899, Livingston, simply head southeast on Livingston Rd and turn left onto Cousland Rd towards Heritage Centre. Then, merge onto Livingston Rd via the ramp to Edinburgh/Glasgow. At Livingston East Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A899. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A89. Then, take the 1st exit onto E Main St/A899. Finally, turn right onto a restricted usage road three times and youll find our training centre on your right. Accreditation

The IPAF Operator 3a training course is a comprehensive program designed to equip candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate mobile elevating work platforms MEWPs. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive an International Powered Access Federation IPAF Powered Access Licence, valid for 5 years.

The course includes a theory test and practical assessment, ensuring that candidates have a thorough understanding of the safety regulations and practical skills required to operate MEWPs.
