Course Information

This 3 day course is run in conjunction with our partners at British Red Cross and St Johns Ambulance and is designed to give the end user an in depth knowledge of First Aid so that he/she can fulfil First Aider responsibilities at their place of work. The course provides a comprehensive set of practical skills, thus giving the first aider both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies at work. It also meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations. More than 5000 open courses available

Who Should Attend?

This course is ideal for higher or advanced level hazards (e.g. construction manufacturing or chemical plants) or where the place of work has identified a requirement to provide first aid and where a broad syllabus including the recognition and treatment of a wider range of conditions might be required.

Joining Instructions

Specific First Aid At Work (FAW) joining instructions will be supplied to you (if appropriate) once your booking is confirmed. If, once confirmation has been received, you are in anyway unsure of what prerequisites or items you need to bring or provide, then your dedicated training manager or the trainer conducting your course will be able to confirm this with you. Contact numbers and ways to get in touch will be provided.

Course Agenda

Treatment of an unconscious casualty, heart attacks, and resuscitation are some of the key topics covered in a First Aid At Work FAW training course. Participants will learn how to properly assess and provide first aid to someone who is unresponsive, as well as how to recognize and respond to a heart attack. The course will also cover the basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator AED.

Shock, poisoning, and choking are other important areas that will be addressed in the FAW course. Participants will learn how to identify and treat shock, a life-threatening condition that can occur after a sudden illness or injury. They will also learn how to recognize and respond to different types of poisoning, as well as how to help someone who is choking.

Bleeding, burns and scalds, fractures, and seizures are additional topics that will be covered in the FAW course. Participants will learn how to control bleeding, provide first aid for burns and scalds, and immobilize fractures. They will also learn how to recognize and respond to seizures, a common medical emergency that can be caused by a variety of factors.

The FAW course will also cover asthma, severe allergic reactions, eye injuries, AED awareness, and major trauma recognition. Participants will learn how to recognize and respond to an asthma attack, how to administer first aid for severe allergic reactions, and how to assist someone with an eye injury. They will also learn about the importance of AEDs and how to recognize and respond to major trauma. Overall, the FAW course will equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective first aid in a variety of emergency situations..

If youre coming from the M8 Glasgow, simply head west and take the exit towards A81/Aberfoyle/George Square. Once youre off the motorway, turn left onto Canal Street and continue onto Milton Street.
