Course Agenda

**5-Day Climbing and Aerial Rescue CS38 Training Course Agenda****Day 1 Introduction to Climbing and Risk Management** Participants will be introduced to the course objectives, focusing on identifying potential hazards and risks associated with climbing. The day will cover the requirements of risk assessments and the importance of safety protocols in aerial rescue operations.

**Day 2 Equipment Familiarisation and Inspection** This day will focus on climbing equipment, including its identification and inspection in accordance with LOLER regulations. Participants will learn how to assess equipment for safety and functionality, ensuring they are well-prepared for practical applications.

**Day 3 Climbing Techniques and Access Methods** Participants will gain hands-on experience in various techniques for gaining access to trees. The day will include practical sessions on ascending and descending trees using ropes and harnesses, emphasising safety and efficiency in climbing operations.

**Day 4 Emergency Procedures and Casualty Management** The focus will shift to emergency procedures, where participants will learn how to rescue a casualty using both damaged and undamaged ropes. The day will also cover key procedural points when dealing with a casualty, ensuring effective teamwork and communication.

**Day 5 Practical Application and Equipment Management** The final day will involve practical exercises where participants will carry out a plan of operation, including retrieving, checking, and storing ropes and equipment. This comprehensive review will solidify their skills and knowledge for real-world applications..

Welcome to The Training Centre in Birmingham! Getting here is straightforward. If youre coming from the M6, head southeast and take the A38 exit towards Birmingham NE/Lichfield. At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Lichfield Rd/A5127. Then, turn left onto Cuckoo Rd/B4137 and right onto Long Acre. Youll find The Training Centre on your right. Accreditation

Assessment for the Climbing and Aerial Rescue CS38 training course will take place on a separate day, usually within two weeks of completing the training. This is dependent on assessor availability and candidate ability. Successful candidates will be awarded the NPTC Level 2 Awards in Tree Climbing and Rescue and Accessing a Tree using a Rope and Harness. This is the former NPTC CS38 qualification.
